Predators Zoanthids

Predators Zoanthids

A beautiful newcomer to the Zoanthid game, this piece is reminiscent of other high-end Zoanthid polyps such as Grand Master Krakatoa Zoanthids (GMKs), Hallucination Zoanthids, and Adonis. Predator Zoanthids have yellow/green skirts with bands of orange, a darker maroon-purple body base, and random speckles of red-orange. From what we can tell, Predator Zoanthids differ from the other "Hallucination" types by having a more defined amount of orange coloration around the mouth. The majority of adult-sized polyps of this piece have almost an orange ring around the center, while other "Hallucination" morphs have random specklings and no set pattern.

It's still a bit early to know exactly what this zoanthid morph prefers, but it's safe to assume that it has similar needs and care requirements to GMK and Hallucination since they are similar in looks. Many hobbyists have had great success with this new Zoanthid morph, and some consider them more resilient and easier to keep than their counterparts.

    Legendary Corals

  • Care Level

Best tried after you've had success with a few other easier corals first and have an understanding of basic reef chemistry such as keeping salinity, alkalinity, calicium, and magnesium levels consistent. The coral itself is very easy to care for if you test for your parameters often and have created a consistent maintanence routine for your reef!

  • Growth Rate

Moderate, with noticable growth within the first month. Increased growth with feeding such as Benepets.

  • Lighting Placement

Prefers to be kept in lower to medium light. Lower light will result in larger polyps while higher light will result in more condensed colors.

Currently kept under Kessil 360x, all blue spectrum.

  • Flow Strength

We recommend starting smaller zoanthid frags in lower flow until it reaches a small colony size. Once established, increase the flow level to avoid any detritus building up in between the mat. If detritus builds up inside the matting of the zoanthid, it can cause bacterial issues.

Currently kept with Maxspect Gyre 350s Pumps.
